A Meetup sign is posted on the front of the Williams Police Station. The location is a safe-zone for transactions and is under continuous surveillance 24 hours a day.

Danville police have designated parking spaces at police headquarters at 510 La Gonda Way as an exchange zone for private-property sales of items listed on classified ad-type websites. The parking spaces watched by a hidden camera outside police headquarters.

Police in Gardendale, Ala., are trying to make online shopping at sites like Craigslist and OfferUp safer.

Just days after two men were arrested and charged with robbery after police say they lured a buyer with a fake Craigslist ad, police are offering a place for buyers and sellers to meet in the parking lot outside the department. The spot is under 24-hour video surveillance.

The station lobby also is available for transactions, police added.
