Two more Texas police departments have joined the growing number of stations offering a safe place for citizens to conduct online transactions. Those meeting in-person in Nampa, Idaho to exchange internet goods or services through websites now have a safer place to meet when making the exchange.

In an effort to make sure these transactions go smoothly, the Police Department has designated the parking lot of its station as a safe zone, complete with surveillance cameras that operate 24/7, Cox said. The Henry County Sheriff’s Office in Paris, TN has created a “Safe Exchange Zone,” an area at the sheriff’s office where people can meet to exchange goods they may have sold or bought online.
The “Safe Exchange Zone” is a section of the parking lot just outside the doors of the Henry County Sheriff’s Office. It has 24-hour surveillance. prompted the Menominee Police Department to become a Safe Trade Zone. “Our citizens and friends should meet the buyers or sellers in our parking lot or in our lobby area in an attempt to ensure a safe and honest transaction. If someone refuses to meet at our location, I would highly recommend that you cancel the transaction” said Police Chief Brett Botbyl. The parking lot in front of the Police and Fire Department can be utilized along with the lobby area in-between the Police Department and City Hall. The lobby area can be utilized during normal business hours. When utilizing the parking lot area, please do not block the garage doors so Police and Fire vehicles can exit for an emergency. The department is located at 2509 10th Street, Menominee, MI 49858 The Chesterfield Sheriff's Office has created a "safe exchange zone" outside the county’s courthouse where online buyers and sellers can meet.
The area is meant to be a place where buyers and sellers can meet safely so people do not have make exchanges in dark parking lots or at their homes. They are offering their parking lot as a “Craigslist & E-Commerce Safe Zone.” Sheriff Jimmie McDuffie designated an area of their lot to remain under video surveillance, making it not only safe for transactions, but a child custody exchange when needed. With the increasing popularity of internet sales and trade, the Camden Police Department has seen a need to provide a safe location for those that buy, sell, or trade items on Internet-based classified ad forums such as craigslist.com or the facebook.com classifieds.
Oak Forest Police Chief Gregory Anderson's department has created some new "Internet Purchase Exchange Locations" in the lobby and parking lot at the police department. Online shoppers can close their deals at the safe locations with surveillance cameras and police nearby.
