Fort Collins Police Services in Colorado recently designated two public exchange zones for sales and trades between citizens. The areas provide a safe alternative to meeting someone at their residence to buy or sell an item.
Stop by the police station's public lobby, 2221 S. Timberline Road, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday or 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The north public parking lot of the police station can be used 24/7. Both areas are well-lit with video surveillance. The rules? You can't sell or exchange weapons, drugs or illegal items at either location. You also can't ask Fort Collins Police Services employees to be witnesses of the exchange, ask them to give legal advice or settle disputes related to the exchange. Employees aren't responsible for ensuring the value, authenticity or legitimacy of exchanges.
